It is presented in very good condition throughout.
She is powered by a 2022 Beta 38hp 4 cylinder diesel engine with only 184 hours use.
She is in original gelcoat without any marks or signs of damage that I can see.
She is extremely well equipped and benefits from recently (2022) having a Bow thruster fitted, new stainless steel water tank and a separate toilet flush to the electric toilet, new leisure batteries and in 2024 a new cranking battery.
In 2020 she underwent extensive re wiring and the high standard is shown in the "wiring" photo.
She was last out out of the water for a pressure wash, antifoul and varnish work in 2022.
The interior is simply stunning with no obvious signs of water ingress or even damp that I could see.
The isn't a mark on the interior woodwork, head linings or upholstery.
I would wager this is one of, if not the best examples of an Ocean 30 available.

Register with Boatshed to see 201 extra photos of this Birchwood TS 37 .Previously the Dusseldorf boat show Birchwood TS37 show boat, she looks like she has been well loved and her current owners really appear to have invested in her, making her not only lovely accommodation afloat, but a real proposition for some serious travel - at sea and amongst rivers and canals!
Her light, bright and airy saloon, with stacks of room and storage and a well equipped helm position, leads to roomy forward accommodation, including a lower saloon area that converts to a double berth, a great galley, a day head and a large forward cabin.
Venturing aft, you'll find a real feature aft cabin, with plenty of storage, an island double bed and an en suite toilet.
Outside, we present a fantastic aft deck, with easy access from the stern or side decks and a fly bridge - this boat really does give you the best of all worlds!
She smells great and feels nice, tidy and clean - all in all, boats like this don't come along that often, so do take an early peek!

The boat was originally on the Norfolk Broads and in Aug 2019 achieved a Norfolk Broads safety certificate. This included new fire extinguishers, upgraded gas pipes and connections and labelling the key turn off valves.
Electrics
The boat was re-wired in July 20, the isolator switches were upgraded and new batteries fitted. The house batteries were increased from two to four, giving 440A. A new Victron charger was fitted together with a Victron Bluetooth monitor. In May 22, a new battery and relay was fitted for the bow thruster. Two new starter batteries were fitted in July 23.
In July 20, 12V sockets and USB charging points were added to the dinette and installed on the flybridge. These were extended in May 23 to provide USB sockets in the saloon and in the aft cabin. The electric sockets were modernised and turned into doubles, with USB charging points.
Navigation Equipment
In April 21 a new VHF radio was fitted, the Icom M423GE DSC with an Icom Command mic on flybridge. A new Shakespeare 1.2m antenna and GPS receiver was fitted. To provide transmit and receive capability in June 21, an AIS Em-Trak B952 5 W class B with a new dedicated 1.2m antenna were installed. Two electrical backbones were also installed to facilitate any future additions.
In May 23 a new Simrad Go9 chart plotter and Simrad Halo 20+ radar were installed. As well as modernising the navigation equipment this also significantly reduced the weight of the radar arch when lowering for bridges, etc. This is a key design feature of this model, so it can access the French waterways. I mainly drive the boat from the flybridge. The new chart plotter means I can Bluetooth to a tablet on the lower helm on long passages and when the autopilot is on.

Sadly, due to ill-health, she now needs to find another new Owner.
She's in lovely condition, having been repainted, blacked and new canopies fitted 3 years ago.
Comprising a couple of bunks in the stern, opposite a full heads/shower. Midships galley and a nice airy saloon forward (which is also two more berths).
She has a great Vetus engine which was new in 2016 and has been well maintained. She will have a new Boat Safety in June.

Owners tell me she was the last produced of 300 as Moody moved on to the Moody S31. Said to be a great starter yacht which is often owned longer than planned before a an upgrade in size - she offers so much room for her 31ft length at the same time of providing safe stable sailing attributes.
She has been owned by her current owners for the last 30 years and you can see she has been lovingly maintained. With her lovely warm teak finished interior she appears to be in good condition inside and also outside. She has 2019 standing rigging.
There are a couple of jobs on their maintenance list just awaiting the shipwrights availability.

A total of 148 Southerly 28's were built and gained the reputation, 'the boat that floats on a damp lawn', due to the shallow draft once the keel is retracted. This made the boats a popular choice for drying harbours, and use on inland waterways.
To add to this, she has a tabernacle mast base fitted, mast support and lowering gear, making it simple to lower the mast for use on rivers and canals.
The boat has had some meaningful investment over the years with a Beta 20 fitted in 2005, new mast and rigging in 2007, new fridge, oven and head sail, all added in 2020.
The boat benefits from hot and cold water, a holding tank, 160w solar panel and Victron MPPT Smart Charging Bluetooth system. There is also a small solar panel for trickle charging the engine.
The boat had Coppercoat antifoul applied in 2018, which has a life expectance of 10 years.
A well provisioned boat, ideal for prolonged stays aboard, coastal cruising or indeed longer passage making.

Owned since 2018 she is well maintained and a really nice example of this popular long keel cruiser yacht.
The yacht is now out of the water (as per the photos) she was last serviced and antifouled in 2023.
Most recently the owner installed a new gas cooker which has only been used once.

New to the DS layout this one offers 2 double berths one good size forward and one large aft cabin with island bed. She has a big heads with walkin shower. Specifically designed storage cupboards and a pilot berth cabin. Easy to work in spacious galley and superb saloon area for entertaining.

We have loved our special moments and amazing memories, we made for the past 6 years. She may have grown quite tired of us, living on you in the summer months. We explored amazing destinations along the South Coast of England, Portugal, Spain and especially the Channel Islands. She kept us safe during really rough waters and handled beautifully. Night passages, we thought were going to be a challenge were an absolute joy to short hand during the moonlit nights.
She was self sufficient for 4 weeks on anchor and never asked for anything. We will forever treasure her style, comfort, speed and resilience.
We know she will continue her journey and maintain her spirit for adventure. We also know she will bring so much joy and happiness to a new family.
