Westerly yachts are a popular choice for sailors of all types. Whether its coastal cruising with friends and family or extreme world voyaging, as in Bob Shepton's experience with his Westerly Discus. Bob sailed his Discus through the Northwest Passage twice, has crossed the Atlantic 14 times, and is often found cruising the Arctic Circle. He states that he has made very few modifications to the boat, praising Westerly for their attention to detail and quality construction.
This much-loved example is offered for sale after many years of happy ownership. Upon appraising the boat, it gave the impression of a well-cared-for yacht with regular use and keen attention to maintenance.
The spray dodgers and spray hood are relatively new and appear in excellent condition. The deck paint and non-skid are also in good repair. The standing rigging is under ten years old, making it compliant with most insurers.
The cockpit is noticeably spacious, offering plenty of well-protected working area while sailing and a comfortable space to enjoy while berthed or at anchor.
The interior reflects the exterior space with a large, well-appointed galley, a huge saloon table with ample seating, twin doubles (one aft and one fore), a navigation station, and a large heads.
The engine has been observed to start on the button from cold and performed as expected.

These yachts are well known for their quality construction and fitout and were built by a well renowned ship yard in Holland. This particular one has had one owner since new and has been very well looked after.
The C34 is a modern centre cockpit cruising boat and 'Yachting Monthly' tested the design when first introduced and summarised her as "Well built and well thought out, this boat deserves serious consideration from anyone looking for a quality 34-footer that stands out from the crowd. Internally she has one large aft cabin, with a lot of stowage space. We have been instructed to list and sell this Sadler 29 as part of a yard clearance. Due to the nature of the sale, the information we have is minimal.
Photographs of the boat were taken on 24/07/2024, and she appears as depicted in the photos.
The exterior requires a thorough deep clean and currently exhibits signs of a prolonged period ashore without attention.
The interior appears to be in a reasonable state. The galley includes a cooker and sink units. The heads seem serviceable. The wood trim, upholstery, joinery, and fittings all seem in fairly presentable condition.
We do not know whether the engine starts and runs. At some stage, the engine compartment suffered from water accumulation (see waterline marks in photos).
The sails appear serviceable, but the rig requires further investigation.

She is powered by a well running Volvo Penta MD2010 Saildrive so is quiet and very frugal. Her upholstery and all infill cushions all look exemplary and she is a genuinely nice clean and relaxing place to spend time afloat. She has a recent quality cassette toilet to make that side of things easy. She has a shower too which is nice to have.
She has a new canopy in 2020 by Bailey and Stone. Her Boat Safety Certificate runs into June 2027. Her broads toll is paid to April 25 and her mooring could also be available with discussion with the marina.
She has an electric twin hob and fridge in the galley. A gas system is fitted should you wish to fit gas cooking appliances.
