Ministers failed to take action despite more than a dozen warnings stretching back months over the future of Scunthorpe steelworks Ministers forced through legislation over the weekend to save the Scunthorpe steel plant in a last-minute dash to prevent a core part of the sector being lost for good.But the Governments decision to wrestle control of the site from its Chinese owners, Jingye, came despite repeated warnings from regional mayors and MPs stretching as far back as October.
