Visiting Assistant Professor of Film and Media Studies

We invite applications for a full-time, one-year position in our program at the level of Assistant Professor, to begin August 2025, with the possibility of renewal up to three years. Candidates must be able to teach multiple sections of an introductory course that covers foundational filmmaking, audio, and editing techniques as well as upper-level courses that focus on narrative and documentary filmmaking. We are seeking candidates who can both introduce newcomers to the foundations of filmmaking and other forms of media storytelling, and who can also teach more focused film and media production courses to advanced students. Must be able to teach intro to film and media studies. Experience teaching first-year writing is a plus. Candidates who can support our efforts to promote environmental sustainability, accessibility, and diversity, equity, and inclusion are especially encouraged to apply. The teaching load is 6 courses. The successful candidate will have experience and interest in teaching film and media production courses, and have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in Film or related areas. Assistant Professor of Practice, Creative Media and Film

We are conducting a search for a strong teacher-filmmaker to be hired as an Assistant Professor of Practice in our program. This is a 9 month (August -May) teaching-focused, non-tenure eligible position. The position will begin in August 2025. This position is primarily responsible for teaching film production courses in the major from introductory to advanced, as well as occasional media and cinema studies courses, as needed. Must have a bachelor's degree (BFA, BA, BS) in film or media production, or related field. An MFA in film production, or related field preferred. Must have at least three years of professional experience in one more of the following areas in filmmaking and media production: producer, director, cinematographer, post-production (editing, color-grading, sound mixing), screenwriter.
