The officials claimed they were conducting a wellness check on children they claim had arrived unaccompanied at the border. But Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho told NPR such actions are not typical. "We have no evidence, nor do I have information of a wellness check conducted by the Department of Homeland Security having taken place in Los Angeles, not only this year, last year, or going back a number of years."
