Willmar City Council delays police chief selection, rejects land purchase

WILLMAR The Willmar City Council on Monday delayed approving a new Willmar Police Chief and in a split 7-1 vote overruled the Willmar Municipal Utilities Commissions approval of a purchase agreement for land on which to construct its new facilities.Councilor Justin Ask made the motion to approve an amended agenda, removing the police chief selection, at the request of City Administrator Leslie Valiant and giving no further explanation.
